Personally, I'm waiting for "the best phone" that so many posters ask about.

In the mean time, I'll use my phone as a phone, my camera as a camera, and
watch movies at a theater or on TV.

GM has a monopoly on Cadillac Escalades, too, but it cannot demand any
price it wants for it because the market is FLOODED with Escalades selling
far below its dream price.

So, as with every other new product, we create a shortage to maintain
retail pricing until, at least, the richest and most drooling customers
have paid full retail for it...and its sales go into the post-fascination
slump every product, including this one, goes through. Then, prices will
drop until sales pick up to a target level, again. Remember those big-
screen $10,000 (various technology) TV sets Circuit City now sells for
$1595? Same idea....

That cartoon on the editorial page was spot-on accurate....(c;

The iPhone simply screams, "Look, I'm a really cool multi-function phone
where everything is easy to use and intuitive."

That's what people have been waiting for. That's why it's selling.

??? but you don't have to use ATT, you can use 802.11.

first cell device to have your actual emails - that's very new.

you got one right! no games sorry, kiddos... i guess this is a big
person's toy.

and why would you ever want to do that?

ah, it runs Mac software, what do you think each of those buttons does?

palm stuff isn't needed.

like what?

It's actually higher quality than HDTV, a 1660dpi screen, the first of
any cell phone.

I listed out many new features above, read it again. a hard drive would
consume battery life and you can write any Web 2.0 app you want for it.
I just put real time, moving radar on mine. How about your cell phone,
can it do this?

Nope!

So Larry, we have now discovered you are an idiot. Thanks for letting us

100% correct, and that's why it has become the fastest selling cell
phone in history.

You don't think "hype" had anything to do with it?

I don't think there was any "hype" surrounding the iPhone, just lots and
lots of actual/truthful information. Apple's ads were straight to the
point and lacking in any "hype". Watch them, it's very much "just the
facts".

http://www.apple.com/iphone/ads/ad1/

The word "hype", would mean something that couldn't be delivered, or was
"grandiose"... and with the iPhone, everyone agrees that it delivers
exactly how Apple advertised it, BUT much more.

So if you want to get "technical" there was "less hype" that what the
product actually delivered.

Sure the media got a little carried away, but even with that, there was
little "hype" after the fact. the iPhone is easily the best smart phone
on the market, and everyone agrees with that.

sure, i waited 8 hours, got 4 iphones and had a GREAT time, got lots of
free stuff during the day, met new people, quite a few hot chicks! and
didn't sense any hype at all during the day. yes, apple could be accused
of "excitement", but never "hype".
